Everyone knows that granite is an object utilized in construction for many years now. We also know that it is chosen due to the durability, strength and beauty. As you can see, like most natural stones, this is located on the crust of the world. It is a kind of igneous rock full of minerals. However, did you ever know that it was used as a special material for building special tombs in the past; that individuals existing centuries ago happen to be using the stone?

Egyptian Culture

Maybe you have seen the various pyramids of Egypt? Did you know that many of these were produced from granite? Apart from the different materials accustomed to build their structures, this gemstone was often utilized in inner walls of Egyptian palaces for ornaments and decoration purposes. These were also used as materials to construct the different pyramids. As you can see, because of the appeal of the stone, the people of Egypt chose to apply it royalty.

The different granite stones used in construction in the duration of the Egyptians originated from Aswan, that is found south of Giza. To get there, one will need to go upstream. Apart from construction, archaeologists have discovered remnants of statues made from granite. They are monuments built for Egyptian pharaohs such as Ramses II.

Just imagine how difficult it should be on their behalf, without technology, to pound such a hard object. At the same time, notice how these structures continue to be standing. With the durability and longevity of the material, people at the moment can savor the sights from the pyramids and other Egyptian structures. As you can see, granite is not only used in industrial buildings at the moment but it was really a material employed for majestic structures.
